Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center
The Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center was founded as the Jewish Working Girls Vacation Society, which gave young Jewish women working mostly in sweatshops a free space far from the city for fresh air and community. Isabella Freedman, a dedicated supporter of many Jewish causes, was one of the founders of the Society, which was later renamed in her honor.
Isabella Freedman holds a special place in our hearts because during Covid it provided us too an escape from our apartment for fresh air and community. We spent both Rosh Hashana 2020 and Pesach 2021 at Isabella Freedman, almost entirely outdoors, where Hallel and Marvah, along with all the other kids there, could roam independently and mask-free. We’re excited to return to this special place to celebrate Hallel’s Bat Mitzvah with you.
